While in Quito, we will be guests at the Casa Aliso, a four star luxury hotel for the first two nights of our trip. This schedule provides us with an important buffer day to solve any unforeseen travel problems i.e. missed connections, lost luggage etc. This also gives us time to explore Quito, one of the trendiest, most interesting and culturally vibrant cities in South America. There is also “old town”, which is packed with historical architecture, gold embellished churches, culture, food, and shopping. We will be back in Quito, at the same hotel for the last night of your trip.
While touring the Galapagos Islands, we will be aboard the very accommodating and freshly remodeled Millennium, an 82 foot diesel powered catamaran. The Millennium features spacious twin bed cabins, each having a spectacular ocean view. Each cabin has individually controlled air conditioning, and a private bath with full shower. Most cabins have a private balcony as well!
The boat features many common areas, including numerous sun decks, a bar and lounge area, a dining area and living room. Meals will consist of the finest international and local dishes prepared by our Chef using fresh ingredients. Meals will include a choice of meat, poultry or seafood. Special dietary choices and needs will gladly be accommodated. You can relax and feel safe knowing that there are 10 highly professional and experienced crew members taking care of your every need. Also throughout our entire voyage we will have the benefit of our very own Galapagos Islands tour guide a virtual encyclopedia of all things Galapagos with years of experience, and a real passion for sharing their knowledge of the islands wildlife, biology, geology and natural history of the islands.

After your incredible Galapagos photo tour, you have the option to join us for four more days and three more nights at the beautiful Tandayapa Lodge. This amazing lodge is located on the west slope of the Ecuadorian Andes. It is one of the premier locations in the cloud forest for photography.read more
With over 30 species of hummingbirds recorded at the feeders and over 15 species seen on most days it is the best place we know of to photograph these tiny jewels.
View this video taken at one of the feeders in Tandayapa.
We will be bringing our high-speed flash setup for participants to use. This high-speed flash system will give you the ability to capture images of hummingbirds that you could only dream of! All you will need is a camera that accepts with a hotshoe and a 200mm or greater lens.
In addition to the hummingbirds, there are over 300 species of other birds. The lodge also has butterfly feeders and lights set up at night that attracts the most amazing collection of moths and insects you have ever seen. A great trail system winds through the forest that allows you to photograph the many unique plants and insects that inhabit the cloud forest.
On our last day, on the way back to Quito, we visit Refugio Paz in search of the stunning Andean Cock-of-the-rocks displaying on their lek.
This refuge, being at a very different elevation than Tandayapa, will offer up a new and diverse variety of plants, birds, and insects for us to photograph. This is also very likely the best place in the world to be virtually guaranteed to see and photograph an Antpitta, which is a highly sought after and very elusive bird of the jungle!
Then one more night in Quito to relax and recharge before we begin our journey home the next morning.close
